The MIT Press Bookstore presents Nick Montfort, Professor of Digital Media at MIT, discussing his book The Future on Wednesday, December 6, at 6:00 pm at the Bookstore. In The Future, Montfort explores the work of writers, artists, inventors, and designers (mainly in Western culture) who imagined the future, including literary utopias from Plato’s Republic to Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s Herland; kitchens of the future and the vision behind them; the Futurama exhibit at the 1939 New York World’s Fair; and what led up to Tim Berners-Lee’s invention of the World Wide Web.
