Public Program | Graduate Student Talk | Visible Secrecy

Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 6:00pm

Building E15, MIT List Visual Arts Center
20 AMES ST, Cambridge, MA 02142

Take a look at the List Center’s exhibitions from a new perspective. Join Agnes Cameron of the MIT Media Lab Viral Communications group to discover more about Before Projection: Video Sculpture 1974-1995.  The talk will focus on visible and invisible aspects of surveillance and encryption, considering works in the exhibition that highlight communication and visual aspects of messaging.

About the Speaker
Agnes Cameron is a Research Assistant in the Viral Communications group at the MIT Media Lab. She finished a master’s in Information and Computer Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2016, with research interests in holograms, self-organizing systems, and bio-inspired engineering. Her work is currently focused on developing a blockchain-based identity management system, and exploring different models of personal data and privacy on the internet.

About the Series
Graduate Student Gallery Talks at the List Center present focused explorations of our current exhibitions and are led by an MIT graduate student. These interdisciplinary talks examine art through the lens of students’ research, backgrounds, and interests.

All programs are free and open to the general public. RSVPs are required. RSVP here.
