MIT (Mysterious) Book Exchange [POSTPONED]
Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 10:00am to 6:00pm
Join the MIT Community for a (mysterious) Book Exchange. [POSTPONED]
Statement of Purpose
Strengthen Community Relationships and Foster a Love of Reading.
Due to changes in MIT policy, we are cancelling our event on March 19. Since we have already collected over 400 books, we plan to reschedule our event for a date in Fall 2020 if things have returned to normal. We have also decided to keep the book recommendation period open. So keep recommending books and we'll have an even bigger celebration in the Fall.
Ongoing Book Recommendations,
Community members are invited to recommend their favorite book using this form. You will tell us the name of one of your favorite books and tell us why you love it in a short paragraph.
We will take your recommendations and collect as many of those books as possible. We highly encourage you to donate a copy of the book if you can. If not, we will buy the book.
You also have the option of leaving your contact information if you would like to connect with the person who picks your book.
On a date TBD in Fall 2020,
Here's the fun part! You can come and select one of the recommended books to take with you. All the books will be wrapped and organized on tables by genre. Only the recommendations written by community members will be printed and showing on the books. So your selection will only be based on the book genre and recommendation.
We will have light refreshments!
We look forward to your recommendations. Each person can recommend one book and potentially take one book depending on availability. There are no limits on the books that can be recommended. The theme for the swap is "Books that you Love."
In addition to encouraging books of all genres, we will also have a children's book section organized by age group. We especially hope members of the MIT community with families recommend some good children's books.
Special thanks to the Community Service Office, the MIT Libraries, and LIT@MIT for organizing this event. And special thanks as well to MindHandHeart and the GSC for funding this event.
