Kate Zwaard, Director of Digital Strategy at the Library of Congress, will deliver the opening keynote for the MIT Summit on the Grand Challenges in Information Sciences and Scholarly Communication. The summit aims to identify critical problems in information science that are solvable within 10 years and which have broad implications across the scholarly community. 

Please note: Due to personal circumstances, Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress, will not be in attendance.

Kate Zwaard is the Director of Digital Strategy at the Library of Congress, where she is working collaboratively across the institution and with other partners to figure out how to use technology to be the Library of the brightest timeline. Last year, her group launched LC Labs, a small team designed to incubate innovative projects and to be an inviting human interface to LC’s digital services. Kate started at the Library as an engineering manager for a team building tools for the digital library.
