Title: The zeroes of the Riemann zeta function and the fine scale distribution of primes
Abstract:
There is a remarkable connection between the zeroes of the Riemann zeta function and the distribution of prime numbers. Estimates about how many zeroes of the zeta function lie in different strips help to understand fine scale oscillations in the density of primes. Such estimates are related to difficult open questions in harmonic analysis. Recently, James Maynard and I made a little progress on one of these open questions. In this talk, I will survey these connections and discuss our recent work.
