“Cracking Your Career”

As a physicist, you have developed and honed a skill set that has vast potential in a wide variety of professions.  Finding a career that is a good match for your talents and passions can feel like a risky and daunting task.  The good news is that many of the same skills you developed to crack hard physics problems (developing hypothesis’, experimenting and iterative problem solving) can and should be applied to finding your best career.   This talk will describe a specific approach to cracking the career problem. 

Bio:

As executive vice president, products and services, Ken Davis is a corporate officer of Gartner and a member of the operating committee. Gartner is the world’s leading research and advisory company. Gartner is an S&P 500 company with 15,000 employees and annual revenues over $3 billion.

Ken joined Gartner from McKinsey & Company, a leading management consulting firm, where he was a partner. During his 10-year career at McKinsey, he assisted industry-leading software and IT services clients.

Ken earned a Ph.D. in atomic physics from MIT. While at MIT, Ken was the recipient of the Compton Fellowship, the Wolfe Fellowship, and the Deutsch Prize and was Wolfgang Ketterle’s first graduate student. His research culminated in the observation of Bose-Einstein condensation in a gas of sodium atoms.
