MIT researcher Ila Kumar will join us to discuss her work with the MIT Media Lab, exploring how technology can be designed to support young people who have experienced foster care in Massachusetts. With a community-based and trauma-informed design approach, her team aims to understand the challenges, goals, and coping strategies of young people and design technology solutions for them based off their strengths and interests. Ila will cover strategies for engaging community members in the design process and look at the trade-offs and limitations encountered along the way. After the talk, Kumar will take questions from the audience.
