About this Event
Being a listener is not to be confused with agreement; it is to be open to views of others. The process of listening, understanding, and responding to another person is critical to effective communication.
In this event from MIT Sloan lecturer Kate Isaacs and consultant Kara Penn MBA ‘07, you will focus on how listening can help cultivate respect and bridge communication gaps. Kate Isaacs is a social scientist and systems engineer working on issues at the intersection of leadership, strategy, technology, and policy. As founder and principal consultant at Denver-based Mission Spark, Kara Penn harnesses ideas from community development, management, and systems thinking to improve the social sector.
During this hour-long live event, moderated by Kristin Zecca, Director Executive Programs at MIT Sloan Executive Education, you will discover:
• How to transform conflicts into collaborative solutions
• A conversation guide called “Listening Challenge” based on social science research with four elements that anyone can use for dialogue on controversial topics
• How to reduce polarized discourse in your organization
Throughout the event, you'll be able to engage with our hosts by:
• Asking questions in real time
• Reflecting on faculty questions
Don't miss your chance to learn impactful insights and engage with MIT faculty.
