DESCRIPTION:Presenter(s): Catherine Ricciardi\, DNO\, ANP-BC and Prof. Elaz
er Edelman\, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science\n\nAbstract:\n\n
The Clinical Research Center streamlines the process of designing and perfo
rming experiments so scientists can concentrate on their research. CRC staf
f have deep expertise in medicine\, policy\, and regulations. Teams of clin
icians and scientists guide projects through the initial planning stages th
rough data gathering and analysis\, and successful navigation of COUHES reg
ulations. \n\nAs part of the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science\
, the CRC links MIT’s culture of innovation to the global healthcare commun
ity. Relationships with many leading medical centers enable clinicians and
 researchers to exchange data\, expertise\, and care solutions.\n\nThe CRC’s
newly renovated facilities feature state-of-the-art equipment and flexible
spaces to accommodate the full range of human subject research\, with an e
mphasis on supporting accelerated medical innovation and health and wellnes
s applications. Researchers can measure a full range of clinical standards
of care using tools that include everything from wireless vital sign sensor
s to high-resolution ultrasound. The Clinical Research Center’s reconfigura
ble space will be an “evolutionary test bed” that can simulate controlled c
onditions and will be outfitted with an array of motion capture and thermal
camera equipment\, floor force plates\, and environmental sensors. Other f
ully configurable rooms and a robust workshop will allow investigators to r
un wet or dry experimental protocols with clinical oversight and make real-
time repairs or adjustments on site.\n\nBio(s):\n\nCatherine Ricciardi\, DN

Research Operations of the MIT CRC\, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner a
t MGH\, and trained clinical research nurse specialized in T1 investigation
. She is a clinical research specialist utilizing her extensive clinical an
d research experience to consult on and operationalize pre-clinical and hum
an proof of concept studies. In addition to serving a major role in day-to-
day management\, Dr. Ricciardi serves as a major navigation resource to ava
ilable MIT CRC offerings and help extend education programs. \n\n \n\nElaz
