Join us for dinner with Ellan Spero, Ph.D.! Come meet Ellan in person and enjoy a meal while learning about her career at the intersection of history, technology, and academic entrepreneurship.

Ellan is a historian of science and technology and an instructor and researcher at MIT, where she teaches in the Technology and Policy Program (TPP), the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS), and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE). She is also the co-founder and board director of Station1, a nonprofit higher education institution built around an inclusive, cross-disciplinary model of socially-directed science and technology education and research.

Beyond MIT, Ellan serves on the board of the Lawrence History Center and The Watch Library, reflecting her commitment to preserving and connecting communities through history and culture.

As an MIT alum, Ellan earned her Ph.D. in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology and Society from MIT, where her dissertation examined academic-industrial cooperation in the early 20th century. During her time at MIT, she was involved in the Graduate Student Council, the Institute Wide Task Force for the Future of MIT Education, the Faculty Policy Committee, the Creative Arts Council, and the List Gallery Advisory Committee.
