Join the MIT AgeLab for the first installment of our Aging and Equity series in 2024!

Older adults of color have a disproportionately higher dementia risk, but are underrepresented in biomedical research that would benefit these populations. Dr. Wong from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University will discuss his past and present efforts on identifying ways to increase diversity in research engagement, and examining lifestyle factors that may contribute to racial and ethnic disparities in dementia risk.

Dr. Roger Wong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, and the Department of Geriatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. His research focuses on examining racial and ethnic disparities in dementia, and engaging underrepresented populations in dementia research. He received his PhD in public health, MPH, and MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, and a BS in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University.
