About this Event
Session Description: Join us for the final 2022 session of the MIT AgeLab's ongoing Aging & Equity series, a speaker series on the intersection of age, race, and ethnicity in longevity planning. Dr. Jinyu Liu will present about "Peer Mentoring Program to Improve Mental Health for Chinese Dementia Caregivers."
About the Speaker: Dr. Jinyu Liu is an Associate Professor at the Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Dr. Liu’s research focuses broadly on aging and health. In particular, she studies determinants of stress on Chinese family caregivers and effects of social support on the mental health of Asian older adults. In one of her recent projects, she tested a peer mentoring program to support dementia caregivers among Chinese Americans, a fast growing but underserved population. In another ongoing project, Dr. Liu focuses on technology use and mental health of Chinese and Korean older Americans.
