Program Information

We gather each February as a community to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s theme is:

Fulfilling America’s Promissory Note:

We refuse to believe the bank of justice is bankrupt

The program honors Dr. King's dual emphasis on global and local issues, including remarks by MIT President Rafael Reif, a brief address by graduate student Dasjon Jordan, undergraduate student Nikayah Etienne, and announcement of the 2019 MLK Leadership Award recipients.

The 2019 keynote speaker will be Rahsaan Hall, Director of the Racial Justice Program for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts.

Please visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Activities homepage for more information. Questions regarding the program should be directed to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Activities Planning Committee via email to mitmlkcelebration@mit.edu.
