ucting subvarieties from their periods\n\nABSTRACT: \n\nRecent advances all
owed for high precision approximation of the periods of hypersurfaces. Usin
g lattice reduction techniques such as LLL one can then heuristically compu
te the lattice of integer relations between the periods. Each integral rel
ation corresponds to a Hodge cycle on the hypersurface. We give an algorit
hm which takes a (heuristic) integral relation (i.e. Hodge cycle) and attem
pts to reconstruct the ideal of a subvariety whose cohomology class represe
nts the given Hodge cycle. We describe the conditions in which the algorith
m is guaranteed to work and we demonstrate the practicality of the method b
y reconstructing conics and twisted cubics in quartic surfaces from their p
eriods. This is joint work with Hossein Movasati.
