Title: On maximal (weight) increasing subsequences

Abstract:

We will discuss the connection between the first order asymptotics of maximal weight increasing subsequences and comparison of natural (and implemented) airplane boarding policies.

We then consider the behavior of weight fluctuations of maximal weight increasing subsequences by viewing them as discrete versions of maximal proper time curves in various space-time domains.
