The MIT Women's Chorale will perform the Second Mass in A flat (1905) by Charles-René, under the direction of Kevin Galiè.  This lovely piece had been neglected for nearly a century before its US premier and recording by the Chorale in  2012.  The concert will also include works by Fauré, Franck, Boisdeffre, and Chesnokov, as well as  a new composition by Mr. Galiè, who will play organ solos by Gabriel Pierné. This program will be presented in two venues, each having grand acoustics and monumental pipe organs,  Erica Johnson, organist  (St. Mary’s Church, Charlestown, May 5, 3-manual Woodbury & Harris organ,1892;  St Cecilia’s Parish, May 9, 4- manual  Smith & Gilbert organ, 1999).
