About the presentation: Justin's talk will begin with a recounting of his academic journey, tracing his path from George Washington Carver Elementary Academy to his current role as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Visiting Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. He will then highlight key examples of how materials have transformed societies and enhanced our everyday life, from the Bronze Age to the Space Age to the emerging Age of AI. Lastly, he will share some recent discoveries and insights from his own research laboratory, showcasing how impact mechanics and computational materials science continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology.
