Software Carpentries aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on introductory workshop will cover basic concepts and tools. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

This workshop will cover an introduction to the Unix shell. Use of the shell is fundamental to a wide range of advanced computing tasks, including high-performance computing. These lessons will introduce you to this powerful tool. No prior knowledge is required; this workshop is geared for complete beginners.

This event takes place in person on the MIT campus on Tuesday January 14, from 10am to 4pm, in 45-801 (Schwarzman College of Computing).
