When storyboarding a game, how do you create interesting problems that really make your players go “hmm”? How do you write a conflict that is both fun and challenging?

At Query the Quandary, you will play a short video game, and then you will be asked to try your own hands at designing
an exciting dilemma with your teammates over dinner!

Quandary is an educational game designed for middle schoolers. In it, the player listens to the community members' concerns and information about a problem they are facing.  Armed with facts and potential solutions, the player then decides which solution will serve the community best.

In this Jam, we will play one or two Quandary scenarios, to get an example of what the game is already doing and what it considers a 'dilemma'.  After a short discussion what does - or doesn't - make them work, and some general advice on designing dilemmas, we'll tackle the fun part: designing new dilemmas that could potentially fit within the game structures.
