Do you care about cities, neighborhoods and local communities? Have you ever thought about being a journalist, or simply trying your hand at writing for news?

Laura Bliss, a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and longtime reporter and editor at Bloomberg CityLab, will lead a three-part IAP crash course on how to start writing about local policy and politics for a broad audience.  We'll pay special attention to stories related to transportation and environmental justice, as well as working with data.

Students will leave the class knowing how to find, identify and shape story ideas, as well as reporting basics, how to pitch editors, and what makes cities some of the most interesting venues for reporting.
