DESCRIPTION:Robotics Today - The Atlas project at Boston Dynamics aims to m
ake advances in robot hardware and software that allow us to match or excee
d average human performance in dynamic mobility tasks. In this talk\, Scott
Kuindersma (Boston Dynamics) will give an overview of how we are using opt
imization to rapidly create behaviors for Atlas and share some recent examp
les of applying these ideas to perception-driven parkour.\n\nBiography: Sco
tt Kuindersma is a Research Scientist at Boston Dynamics where he leads a t
eam of control engineers who are creating algorithms for coordinated\, athl
etic\, and adaptive behavior on Atlas. Previously he held positions as an A
ssistant Professor of Engineering and Computer Science at Harvard Universit
y and a postdoc at MIT CSAIL where he was the controls lead for the MIT DAR
 PA Robotics Challenge Team.
