This panel event will feature three former EPA career staff who will share their experience working with the agency in several different regions across multiple administrations. There will be ample time for Q&A and conversation.

Moderator:
During her 40 year career with EPA, Alexis Strauss served in many roles, including Deputy Regional Administrator and Acting Regional Administrator of EPA’s Pacific Southwest region. In this role, she oversaw a staff of nearly 800 charged with implementation and enforcement of federal environmental laws in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the Pacific Islands, and 148 tribal nations. From 1994 to 2012, Alexis served as Regional Water Division Director where she led the activities under the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other statutes. She resides in Northern California.

Panelist: Beverly H. Banister is a native of Woodland, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. She retired from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in September 2020 with over 36 years of experience in leadership and management of environmental and enforcement programs, nineteen of those years in the Senior Executive Service, the personnel system covering senior executive positions in federal agencies. She resides in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Panelist: A graduate of MIT and Harvard Business School, Roy Gamse served as Deputy Assistant Administrator for Planning and Evaluation and Acting Assistant Administrator for Planning and Management at EPA headquarters in Washington, DC. He resides in Arlington, Virginia.
