About this Event
EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED - Many scientists enjoy giving back by visiting local schools or museums and engaging with children there, but doing so can sometimes feel like a distraction from their real work. In the limited amount of time we have for engaging with the public, what does worthwhile outreach look like? How do we secure the impactful connections that unlock the audiences who need us most? With NSF-funding, a team at Brandeis University has recently developed SciLinkR.com to make outreach more convenient to set-up and for the first time, actually trackable on social-media and citable for CVs/resumes and annual reporting. This talk is for people who love outreach, but are looking for ways to make it more meaningful. It will be an interactive discussion about how more effective outreach can be good for the world -- and for you. This CAPD event is open to MIT undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and alumni. Registration requested via Careerbridge (powered by Handshake).
