"Scalabe Quantum Computation with Trapped Ions": Dr. Jeremy Sage [APhys Lecture]
Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:45am to 1:00pm
36-462
Enjoy a lecture and lunch with Dr. Jeremy Sage, Technical Staff Member, MIT Lincoln Labs Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group
Abstract:
Trapped ions are one of the most promising systems for quantum computation due to their demonstrated long coherence times and high-fidelity control and quantum state preparation and readout. While many challenges remain to realize the true promise of these systems, chief among them is the development of the technology and techniques required to reliably control and measure a large number of qubits. In this talk, Dr. Sage will present the basics of trapped-ion quantum computing and discuss ongoing work at Lincoln Laboratory aimed at enabling large-scale quantum computation with ions.
