Sexual Violence & Trauma-Informed Patient Care

Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 3:00pm to 4:00pm

E19-202

Part II of Prehealth Advising's Culturally Competent Patient Care Series is titled Sexual Violence & Trauma-Informed Patient Care. This session will include a panel and discussion on the topic of trauma-informed practices in health care, especially when delivering patient care. Recognizing that survivorship is always in the room, another learning objective pertains to how survivors exist in the healthcare arena as physicians, staff, nurses, and patients; therefore we plan to explore how trauma-informed practices can be implemented in caregiver-patient interaction but also amongst health care professionals and staff. Overall, the aim is to address the prevalence and impacts of trauma as a survivor and talk about what we can do to work towards health care that is more trauma-informed and survivor-centered.
