“A New Approach to Earth System Reanalysis”
A new approach to Earth system reanalysis using the adjoint of a fully coupled model will be presented. The coupled model, called CESAM, consist of the MITogcm ocean and the PLASIM atmosphere. The adjoint is being generated of the coupled model using the TAF compiler. The talk will present first results and will provide an outlook to a newly funded project on Earth system reanalysis with focus on model parameter estimation and model improvements. The talk will also summarize new developments of WCRP, and here especially the upcoming Open Science Conference to be held in Kigali (Rwanda) in October 2023.
