Spirits, Goblins, and Gnurds is a celebration of 150 years of student life at MIT. The online exhibit highlights archival materials from 1876, 1926, and 1976—ending with some items about student life in 2026—to show how students have shaped the spirit of the Institute in every era.

Exhibit curator Simon Wolfe is a Boston area archivist and freelance archival researcher. Simon has a MLIS from Simmons University, a BA in Religion from the University of Vermont, and has worked at The MIT Press, The MIT Museum, as well as at MIT's Department of Distinctive Collections. Simon loves old paper and reading dead people's mail, and currently spends most of his time working as a project archivist at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
