About this Event
Attention all MIT students, spouses of students, faculty and staff! Have you always wanted to try stand-up comedy but never had the opportunity or guts? What better way to begin than from the comfort of your own home?
Generously supported by MIT's MindHandHeart Innovation Fund, this online class will teach you the basics of stand-up comedy with the goal of creating a 3 to 5 minute set to be performed during a virtual graduation show for family and friends. The class will be taught by local, professional comedian, Dan Crohn, who has performed on television on Last Comic Standing, as well as in comedy clubs all over the country including LA, New York & Boston. Dan teaches stand-up at Improv Boston and has also taught stand-up at MIT over the last three Independent Activities Periods.
The class will meet once a week for 6 weeks with a show in the 7th week. Pick from two sessions this summer, either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4:00-6:00.
Session 1: Tuesdays, July 6th through August 10th, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Graduation show will be Tuesday, August 17th at 8 PM.
OR
Session 2: Thursdays, July 8th through August 12th 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Graduation show will be Thursday, August 19th at 8 PM.
After signing up for the course, you will receive an email with the Zoom information.
This class is FREE for MIT undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students.
YOU MUST HAVE AND USE AN MIT EMAIL ADDRESS TO REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS!
Note: Full participation and feedback are important to the process. We stress the importance of being able to attend every class as well as the graduation show.
Please email Dan Crohn at dcrohn@mit.edu to enroll and for any questions. We can't wait to share some much needed laughter together!
