DESCRIPTION:Title: Development of a luminescence based N-nitrosamines senso
 r and a methane preconcentrator\n\nAbstract: The development of miniaturise
 d\, affordable sensors as an alternative to specialised analytical laborato
 ries allows for their widespread deployment in areas of concern\, facilitat
 ing citizen science and has the potential to give a higher spatiotemporal r
 esolution. Our lab has previously developed different optical and chemiresi
 stive sensors targeting a wide variety of analytes\, but there still exist 
 challenges to overcome\, such as reduced performance at high humidity level
 s. My work in the group has been to develop new sensing platforms for some 
 of these environmentally relevant analytes\, such as N-nitrosoamines and me
 thane. I will initially present on the synthesis and sensing performance of
  a group of binuclear copper (I) complexes for the luminescent detection of
  N-nitrosamines. Afterwards\, my presentation will shift towards the develo
 pment of a potential methane preconcentrator based on a porous hydrocarbon 
 polymer. The hydrophobicity of this material may be beneficial in reducing 
 undesired humidity effects.\n\n \n\nRefreshments will be served at 4:00PM o
