About this Event
Can't believe summer is halfway over? Join MIT-JAPAN Program for a fun, interactive and delicious FREE mochi workshop. This is a family-friendly event, and you’ll be able to eat your creations. Who doesn’t love that?! We will be making Daifuku mochi (with red beans), Ice cream mochi, and Hawaiian butter mochi! You will leave class with a sense of history about this Japanese delicacy, mochi, and our special techniques to keep making mochi for any occasion! Making mochi together is a fun time and a great bonding experience!
Your instructor for this Mochi Event will be Chef Yukiko! Yukiko grew up in rural Japan, finding joy in the art of cooking. As mochi is traditionally ate during times of celebration, it holds special memories in her life. She strives to teach others how to make mochi in an engaging, fun, and bonding way! Yukiko has been teaching mochi classes since 2016. She has been featured in the SF Chronicle, TV Japan, and was the inspiration behind her daughter, Kaori's book entitled Mochi Magic.
