Tata Center for Technology & Design 4th Annual Symposium and Workshop
Friday, September 28, 2018 at 8:30am to 6:00pm
The first day’s program will begin with a Symposium focused on the challenges of bringing new technologies to market in the developing world. In addition to MIT faculty and students, the invitation-only audience will comprise a diverse group of technology entrepreneurs, investors, policy-makers, researchers, and others sharing their perspectives as panelists, presenters, and discussants. We will also have keynotes from Dr. Maurizio Vecchione (Executive VP of the Gates Foundation’s research lab Global Good) and Dr. Ernest Moniz (former US Secretary of Energy). The Symposium will be followed by an evening poster session and social gathering.
The Conference begins on September 28th with a keynote address by author and former USAID Chief Innovation Officer, Ann Mei Chang. The remainder of the day will be divided into a series of workshops in which we discuss how to select problems and design solutions for impact in the Tata Center’s six focus areas: Housing, Energy, the Environment, Health, Agriculture and Water. We are delighted to be cohosting the final workshop on agriculture and water with MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel World Water and Food Security Lab (J-WAFS), led by Professor John Lienhard.
