The fight for LGBTQ+ visibility, equity, and empowerment has evolved with each generation – but the unwavering resilience of the community remains as strong as ever.

Sponsored by the MIT LBGTQ+ Employee Resource Group, three young activists from the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY) explore the activism of today and tomorrow, and how we all can support the next generation of changemakers fighting for the LBGTQ+ community. Join us for presentations, discussion, and snacks!

Speakers:

  • JP (he/him/his) is a queer trans man of color. He is a global storyteller advocating for human rights and social justice, so that queer folks do not have to justify who they are, declare who they are, but just be free. Excited to stand before you today, JP will be discussing how to center and amplify youth voices while addressing our implicit biases.
  • Yutian Li (she/her) is a human rights activist and public speaker. She is currently studying Government and Biology at Harvard College. Her speech will address the intersectionality of LGBTQ+ rights and racial justice, both about BIPOC LGBTQ+ history, but also how we can shape a more inclusive future for people of all identities.
  • Elliott-Timothy Viridian is a student, educator, writer, and poet originally from Atlanta, Georgia. His writings typically speak around topics like Black queerness, transploitation, and feminist critical fabulation of the transgender body.
