The Awakening: An Afrofuturism-Inspired Multimedia Art Show

View, share, and interact with artistic pieces inspired by themes discussed in the book Dawn by Octavia Butler. We will explore transhumanism and human evolution, gender (de)construction, Afrofuturism, multi-ethnic and multi-species futures, LGBT identities, colonialism, rebellion, and more.
Call for Art
Submissions may include 2D and 3D art, costume art, performance art, music, multimedia, and more. Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee your spot in the show.
This event will be held in partnership with the Black Students’ Union and is cohosted by the MIT Libraries and the Office of Multicultural Programs. Refreshments will be served. No registration required.

It was a nice event.. both the visual and active arts. I do wish there was 1. more artist participation and 2. Better publicity/marketing for the event. As an alum, I know how important the arts are to a well rounded education and experience at MIT.
