Meet the Panelists

  • Sam Brinton `14 | Dual Masters in Nuclear Engineering and Technology Policy | Industry: Nuclear Engineering and Advocacy  - (They/Them).
    • Sam Brinton is one of the world’s leading advocates for LGBTQ mental health and one of the global leaders in nuclear waste management. They are the founder of the 50 Bill 50 States campaign to end the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy, first in the United States and then around the globe. As a survivor of conversion therapy, Sam has spoken before the United Nations and Congress as well as testified on legislation from coast to coast to protect LGBTQ youth mental health across the country. They have been featured in numerous media including multiple New York Times op-eds as well as The Washington Post, TIME Magazine and many other publications. You might not expect a nuclear engineering graduate from MIT to be strolling through the White House in stilettos, but that is part of the reason Sam does it. Having a conversation on preconceptions and the ways we can work together despite differences in appearance is right up their alley. Whether it’s on technical topics or social issues, Sam is always willing to have the tough conversations with an open mind – and a stellar pair of stilettos.
