About this Event
This workshop will review and discuss job offer letters, nondisclosure and noncompetition agreements, and the law that governs them. Learn more about legal terms and your rights:
- What’s usually contained in an offer letter
- Nondisclosure agreements, noncompetition agreements, and invention assignment agreements (what’s reasonable, what’s enforceable, can they be negotiated, what are red flags/problems to watch for)
- Pay equity protections (such as salary range disclosure legislation and salary history bans)
- Considerations for planning to start your own company while still working
The instructor, Lou Rodriques, is a Senior Lecturer in Law at MIT Sloan, and was for many years a practicing attorney specializing in Labor and Employment Law. The focus of this workshop is on realistic, practical concerns. No prior knowledge of the law is necessary. This CAPD event is open to MIT undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and alumni.
